Traditional Aikidō Training – The Iwama Method

ATAGO offers a traditional Aikidō training program, directly transmitted from Morihiro Saitō Sensei to Giorgio Oscari during his intensive training in Iwama, Japan. This method preserves the authentic teachings of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, rigorously integrating empty-hand techniques with Bukiwaza, the Aikidō weapons system.

Training Structure

✔ Kihon and Ki no Nagare – The study of techniques follows a structured approach to develop both solid foundations and fluidity in movement:

• Kihon (static form) → To refine precision, control, and structure.

• Ki no Nagare (dynamic form) → To develop adaptability, continuity, and the application of flowing energy.

✔ Bukiwaza – The Iwama Weapons System – Systematic study of:

• Ken (wooden sword – bokken)

• Jō (staff)

• Ken tai Jō (Jō against Ken)

Bukiwaza deepens the understanding of fundamental Aikidō principles and their connection to empty-hand techniques.
